Why Carrick-on-Shannon is Great for Group Breaks

There are activities abound at Carrick-on-shannon, with the surrounding lakes and hills of Leitrim’s county town being capitalised on by businesses who organise unforgettable outdoor pursuits. Not only this, but the town is a wildly popular tourist destination, as a number of top accommodation and fine dining providers attract holiday makers and hen party and stag do goers alike, year on year.

So whether it be a 30th birthday, a team building day or a girly group getaway HenorStag.com reveal why Carrick-on-Shannon is one of the top places in Ireland for group getaways!

Activities

Home to the first high wire forest adventure in Ireland, Zipit is an exhilarating activity for groups that wish to get active. Here, there are a number of unique challenges your group will have to overcome, facing the dizzying heights as you take on zip lines, Tarzan swings and climbing walls!

North West Adventure is an all-action activity centre that provides a range of activities and team building exercises. As far as activities go, there is a wealth of options both on land and in the water. On land, you can go rock climbing and abseiling, scaling cliff-faces for an amazing adrenaline rush. Alternatively, you can also wade out into the water for a fun afternoon of canoeing and kayaking—or, if your group wanted the ultimate thrill ride, white water rafting. Explore the limestone waters of Lough Arrow, or barrel down the rapids of the Boyle River.

As previously mentioned, team building exercises are available here as well. Orienteering and trekking adventures make for an excellent blend of learning and fun, with the team working together in order to navigate their natural surroundings.

Lough Gara Outdoor Pursuits offer a comprehensive range of exciting activities that you’ll struggle to find elsewhere. Firstly, there a number of shooting activities available, including clay pigeon shooting, archery and AirSoft! That’s not all however, as there is also horse riding and falconry to get a complete experience.

Perfect for hen parties are dance classes, and at Hen Party Dance— a girl gang can learn a choreographed dance of their own choosing! As well as this, the girls also get to choose their own theme and dress up in fun costumes for a photoshoot at the end of the class.

Fine Dining Nightlife

There is no shortage of fine dining in Carrick-on-Shannon, with Vitto’s Restaurant & Bar providing a range of traditional, Seafood and Italian dishes that will cater to every guest’s tastes. What’s more, Vitto’s have a number of interesting deals specifically for groups.

Working in conjunction with the Landmark Hotel, Club 360 offer group packages including 4 star accommodation, cocktail masterclasses and of course— VIP nightclub entry! Club 360 have private booths perfect for groups to chill and sip cocktails, as well as a large dance floor where DJs playing classic 80s pop as well as contemporary songs from the charts.

Accommodation

As the Landmark Hotel has been previously mentioned, we’ll instead look at options outside of hotels that are made with group bookings in mind. The first is Carrick Plaza Suites, which are luxury suites and self catering apartments provided by thekeycollection. The open living spaces are great for playing games and having a giggle together, as well as the fitted kitchens being a more cost-effective option for breakfast and dinner.

Another alternative accommodation popular with hen parties is glamping—which is a glamorous version of camping with a difference!  Beirnes of Battlebridge offer glamping breaks in Carrick-on-Shannon, giving girl groups the chance to have a bohemian themed hen party and chill out in luxury glamping tents on the banks of the River Shannon. Although groups will be out in the great outdoors, they’re never too far away from civilisation. In fact, there is an on-site traditional pub serving gourmet bar-food and plays host to traditional music sessions!

Weighing up all these contributing factors, it’s not a stretch to surmise that Carrick-on-Shannon is a tremendous location for groups of all sizes and persuasions! For more ideas and inspiration check out HenorStag.com
